William "Bill" Jones

William “Bill” Robert Jones passed away on December 28, 2023.  Bill was born August 22, 1939, to Wesley and Beatrice Jones.  After graduating from Butler High School, Bill attended William Patterson University and then served our country in the Army National Guard.  He was dedicated to his service of God and of the community as he was a member of First Baptist Church in DeFuniak Springs, The Gideons International, the Glendale Masonic Lodge, the DeFuniak Masonic Lodge, and The Order of the Amaranth.

Bill had a contagious laugh and his smile lit up the room. He loved God, adored his wife, and treasured his family.  He also valued spending time with his sweet dog Molly, cooking, and studying his Bible.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Beatrice, a brother Jack Jones, a son Patrick Jones, step-sons Keel Daniel and Michael Daniel.

Bill is survived by his wife, Dorothy Jones, sons Todd Jones and Alan (Nicole) Jones, daughter Colleen (Rocky) Markham, stepson Thomas (Heather) Johnson, and daughter-in-law Katie Stoudemire. Also surviving him are grandchildren David Smith II, Cara Martens, Korina Jones, Bailey (Austin) Jones, Dean Szostek, Jessica Jones, R.J. Jones, 14 great-grandchildren, and dear friends who were like children to him, Chris and Diane Miles.

He was always there for his people.  He will be missed greatly and long remembered by all who knew him.

Flowers are being accepted or donations can be made to First Baptist Preschool or to The Gideons International.

A memorial service is being held at First Baptist Church DeFuniak Springs on Jan 12, 2024.  Visitation will begin at 2PM with the service starting at 3PM.
