Mr. William Randolph Ogilvie, Sr. age 77, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019 just nine days short of his 78th birthday at the home of his daughter, April Rose. He was born June 10, 1941 in Nichols, Florida the son of William Llewelyn Ogilvie and Frances Mae Wellborn Ogilvie. Mr. Ogilvie was a mining superintendent in South, Florida by trade but after his sisters had migrated to North Florida, DeFuniak Springs, and after he and his wife had visited them on occasions, they too moved to DeFuniak Springs and made it their home. He worked locally as an equipment operator for Dahar Construction and Morris-Shea Construction, working up into his seventies. He loved gardening of all types, veggies, plants, even roses and in addition to raising things from the soil, he raised six of his seven grandchildren. Outdoors always, he loved fishing but mainly being with his grandchildren was his favorite of all things. He is predeceased by his parents, his wife, Ora Lee Ogilvie, his sons, William “Bill” Ogilvie, Jr. and Walter Scott Ogilvie; his brothers, James, Paul and Jr. and his sister Patricia.
Among survivors are his daughter, April Ogilvie Rose ((Tony), His grandchildren, Aften Ogilvie (Brian), Audrey Bergstrom (Tyler), Austin Ogilvie (Heather), Kevin Rose Jr. , Ryan Ogilvie (Amanda), Kandi Rose (Jeremy) and Chelsea Scott (Tyrell). Sixteen great grandchildren, Jacob, Brian Jr., Alyssa, Cainan, Kevin III, Alexxa, Lillian, Aubrey, Alanna, Aralyn, Hannah, Paislee, Laynie, Rylynn, William and Averee. His sisters, Frances Howell (James), Sharon Messer (George), Twila Covington, Charles and Winnie Hayman also survive.
Among those asked to serve as casketbearers are Austin Ogilvie, Tony Pittman, Kevin Rose Jr., Kevin Rose Sr., Eddie Brady, Dwayne Brady, James Hayman and Ryan Ogilvie. Floral arrangements are being accepted. A time of visitation will be Thursday, June 6, 2019 from 9 until 10 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with the funeral beginning at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Paxton Cemetery.
