Wilbur “Webb” Stanton of DeFuniak Springs, FL passed into eternal rest Sunday, December 21, 2014 at the age of 81. Born June 19, 1933 in Scranton, PA, Webb was one of six children born to Elizabeth and Vernon Stanton. Webb was always a hard worker, at one point owning a tropical fish store and studying for his Associates Degree even as he dedicated 40 years of service to Schrade Cutlery in Ellenville, NY as the Director of Human Resources. Not one to ever sit still, Webb spent several decades traveling the east coast by camper and motorhome before retiring to DeFuniak Springs. He was an avid golfer, enjoying many years of play with his brothers, Evelyn, and several good friends, at the DeFuniak Country Club where they were members. Perhaps his greatest pleasure came while in the saddle of a motorcycle. He and Evelyn greatly enjoyed cruising the countryside, most recently on his Gold Wing trike, with fellow members of the Gold Wing Riders Association. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Dorothy, Rosie and Shirley as well as their husbands; his older brother, Gilbert; his first wife, Lorraine; second wife, Marilyn; and sister-in-law, Nordel.
Webb is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Polk Stanton; younger brother, Dave, of DeFuniak Springs; sister-in-law, Yoshiko Stanton of DeFuniak Springs; and three children, Karen Caban of DeFuniak Springs; Susan Stanton of Greenfield, CA; and Bill Stanton of Myrtle Beach, SC. He was blessed to have six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren (with one more on the way) and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held, Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel.
