WENDELL McCASKILL

February 4, 1953 — December 18, 2020

Wendell Diral McCaskill was born in Defuniak Springs, FL on February 4, 1953, and grew up along Highway 81 S. in Ponce de Leon, FL.  The Milton McCaskill Family and the Hurse E. Campbell Family were near and dear to Wendell as he grew up and throughout his life.  He leaves a host of cousins, relatives, and friends to enjoy fond memories. Wendell graduated from Walton Senior High School in Defuniak Springs in 1971.  He was a musician who had a life-long talent and love for music.  Some would also say that Wendell was a comedian.  Wendell was in the band and was a superb drummist, guitarist and keyboardist. He could also tap a beat on his knee, clap his hands, snap his fingers, and tap his feet all at the same time which his nephews and niece enjoyed growing up! Wendell was a kind person, a giving person and always optimistic!  Wendell was the life of any family and friend gathering.  He was truly one of a kind, he marched to the beat of his own drum and he lived his life to the fullest.   He is preceded in death by his father Harding McCaskill and his nephew Tawayne P. McCaskill.

Wendell leaves his mother Alternese Campbell McCaskill; brothers Don A. McCaskill, Sr., Weniford “Nick” McCaskill and Darrow H. McCaskill; and a son Mark McCaskill.
He also leaves his nephew Don A. McCaskill, Jr.; and nieces Tiffany McCaskill Henderson (D.C.) and Ashley McCaskill.  Wendell was a great uncle to Audra McCaskill, Brendan Brown, Asia McCaskill, Loren Henderson, Tiffin Henderson and a step-nephew Amos Williams, Jr., and a great-great nephew Ayden McCaskill, whom all loved and adored their great uncle.

Honorary casket bearers will be Don McCaskill, Sr., Weniford “Nick” McCaskill, Darrow McCaskill, Don McCaskill, Jr., Brendan Brown and D. C. Henderson.      Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2020  at 12:00 Noon  in Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church Cemetery  in Euchee Valley with a Eulogy by his niece Tiffany McCaskill Henderson.  Interment will be in the McCaskill family plot in  Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church  Cemetery.  Friends and family may go on line to view obituaries, offer condolences and sign the guest register at jerryevansfuneralhome.com
