WALTRUDE MARIANNA 'VAL' NEWSOME

Waltrude (Val) M. Newsome, age 79, passed away Monday,  May 13, 2019, in Chautauqua Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 20, 1939 in Osnabruck, Germany, the daughter of Eugne Lothar and Sofie Geskes Florenz.   Mrs. Newsome enjoyed working in the fashion industry and working beside her husband in their independently owned business, New-Tel Communications. Val had many hobbies including painting, shopping, watching televison and socialising with friends and family. She was christened at birth and was a member of First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs.
She is predeceased by her parents, and husband, Howard C. Newsome, Jr.

Among survivors are her son, Lothar Newsome and his wife, Amanda; four grandchildren, Megan Bauer, Yasmine Newsome, Brittney Anderson, and Breeanna Van Meer; two great grandchildren Nicholas and Robin; one sister, K. Efron and one brother, Eugen Lothar Florenz.

A celebration of life visitation will be held Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 2 until 4 o’clock in the afternoon in Jerry Evans Chapel.
