Chief Master Sergeant Walter Webb Jackson Jr, age 89 years young passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at his home in Defuniak Springs, Florida. He was born June 24, 1927 in Pensacola, Florida the son of Walter Webb Jackson Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Wentworth Jackson. He attended Walton County High School and graduated in 1944. He served in all branches of the military and retired from the United States Air Force in 1966. He was preceded in death by his first wife Bobbie Jean Henderson Jackson in 1980 and his second wife Mildred Tidwell Jackson in 2008.
Walter was an avid golfer and loved to play cards. He was treasurer of his Bridge Club and member of the First Methodist Church in Defuniak Springs. He was a world traveler in his lifetime. He cared deeply for his family and friends.
He is beloved by his five children, Mary Katherine Rose, Palm Beach FL, Karen J. Vano (Bill), Pensacola Beach, FL, Walter Webb Jackson III (Deborah), Millbrook, AL, John Robert Jackson (Flor), Columbus, GA, and Kimberly Elizabeth Hall, Cochran, GA. His grandchildren Ronald K. Rose (Christine), Ryan K. Rose (Teresa), Kam Patterson (Nathan), Joshua Caleb Jackson (Kelsey), Jason Jackson, Valerie Jackson, Victoria Jackson, Adam Hall, Angela Hall, and three great children, Lauren Rose, Joshua Jackson and Pierce Patterson, his sisters, Martha Mosely, St Augustine, Gloria Hollingsworth (Sonny) Defuniak Springs, Mary Lydia Bingham, Defuniak Springs and many nieces and nephews and his dear friend and companion Pat Harvell.
Services will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 1:00 in the afternoon in Jerry Evans Chapel with his son Walter W. Jackson, III officiating. Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery next to his wife who preceded him in death.
