Ms. Vivey Johnson Collinsworth, age 80 of Gaskin, passed away in the early morning hours Sunday, April 28, 2013 in North Okaloosa Medical Center. She was born July 9, 1932 in Gaskin the daughter of Abraham and Elsie Ruthie Wilkerson Johnson. Vivey worked most of her working life in local shirt factories. Her family says she was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a Southern Lady to the very end. For the past several years, her dog Zack was her constant companion.
Among survivors are her sons, Harold Collinsworth and wife Margene. Doug Collinsworth and wife Maggie. Her daughter, Vivian Moore and husband Charles. Grandchildren, Russell, Charlie and wife Amanda , Angela, Sharon and Loren. Her great grandchildren, Nick Nicole, Christian, Madison, Kado and Brittany. Her brother Harley Johnson. A special niece, Velinda Knowles and several other nieces and nephews. Her best friends, Katherine Stafford and Opal Lewis.
Memorials may be made in Vivey Collinsworth’s memory to Alaqua Animal Refuge, 914 Whitfield Road, Freeport, Florida 32439. A time of visitation will be from one until two Tuesday afternoon, April 30, 2013 with the funeral beginning at 2:00 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel. Burial will follow in Gaskin Cemetery.
