Virginia (Scott) Day

Virginia Scott Day, age 84 of Darlington passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Specialty Health and Rehabilitation in Pensacola, Florida. She was born on August 8,1939 in Darlington Florida the daughter of Richard Lester Scott and  Alma Enfinger Scott.  She remained in Darlington until she graduated from Walton High School in 1957.  She moved to Pensacola in 1960 with her husband and daughter.  In 1981 Virginia and her husband relocated to Jackson Mississippi until her husband's retirement in 1996.  After retirement Virginia and her husband returned to Darlington to live their lives in the country they loved. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Clary Day, her parents and siblings, Lorene Dingman, Ben Scott, Wilburn Scott, Cile Gandy, Jean Mauldin, Eugene Scott, and Bill Scott.

She is survived by her daughters, Debi Middleton and Myra Pettey.  Grandchildren, Christopher Pettey and wife Jennifer, Jenna Henderson and husband Charlie, Lindsay Pettey, Hallie Smith, Sara Reno, and Keely Courtney and husband Ryan. Virginia is also survived by twelve great grandchildren, Colton, Carleigh, Jackson, Kaydence, Colin, Corbin, Camden, Carson, Harper, Amelia, Aurora, and Violet.  Also surviving is her brother Ronnie Scott, and her sisters-in-law, Pat Day, Peggy Day, Vivian Scott, and Mary Ann Scott, along with numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly,

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023 at 11:00 am with visitation being held one hour prior to service at 10:00 am.  McDonald Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Burial to follow at Limestone Cemetery in Darlington.

Pallbearers will be Ron Alford, Gary Barker, Ryan Courtney, John Day, Charlie Henderson, and Stephen Pettey.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Speciality Health and Rehabilitation not only for their excellent care provided to our Mother but also for the love you all showed her.  Krista, Annie, Jessica, Ms Dolly, Felecia, and Cindy, you are angels on Earth.  Ms. Margorie, thank you for loving Ms Virginia and watching over her as you did.
