Mrs. Shirley Virginia Clark, age 83, a resident of The Stanley House in DeFuniak Springs was called home to the Lord on Wednesday mroning, December 2, 2009 after a brief stay in Healthmark Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Clark was born November 8, 1926 in Crestview, Florida the daughter of James Benjamin Carr and Mamie Buchana Carr. She attended Crestview High School and after graduation attended Florida State University where she played in the Seminole Marching Band and graduated in the first FSC C0-ed class in 1946 with a degree in Home Economics. She taught school at Choctawhatchee High School and then went to work for the Insitute of Food and Agriculture Sciences with the State of Florida. Mrs. Clark was the Home Demonstration Agent in Walton County for 26 years and attended The University of West Florida during that time period where she acquired her Masters Degree in Home Economics. She was preceeded in death by her parents, two brothers, Emory Carr and James Carr, one sister, Inez Carr and her husband Gene Clark.
Among survivors are her sons, Tommy, Jimmy and wife Lila, Billy and wife Vivian; three grandsons, Cody, Kyler and Logan and numerous nieces and nephews.
Floral arrangements are being accepted. A time of visitation will be Friday, December 4, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
