Vennie Lee Mitchell, age 90 of Ponce de Leon passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016 in Healthmark Regional Medical Center. She was born November 6, 1925 in Westville, Florida the daughter of Marvin and Lillian Toonie Campbell Mitchell. A lifelong resident of the area, Vennie grew up in a period of American history where folks believed in hard work, honesty, the importance of friendship and being neighborly and somehow in spite of the depression and hard times, everyone got along. Even later in life, she loved to rake her yard, shell peas, clean her house, go to church; values she learned growing up in a large family. The outdoors as her paradise, she loved to fish, scale ‘em, fry ‘em and eat ‘em. Her hard work in life gave her strength to “live on her own” at age 90. She is predeceased by her father and mother and her sisters. Vennie was part of the fellowship of Westville First Assembly of God Church.
Among survivors are her daughters, Lillian French and Linda Griffin. Her grandchildren, Rejonna, Randy and Sheila. Her great grandchildren, Josh, Kayla, Brian, Dalton and Ashley and a great great granddaughter, Hadliegh.
