Timothy Jonathan Brooks (TJ), 53, of Santa Rosa Beach, passed away on July 31, 2023. TJ was born on June 13th, 1970, to Richard and Gail Campbell Brooks.
TJ served in the United States Coast Guard and then went on to receive his Bachelors of Criminology from The Florida State University. He proudly worked for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Florida Highway Patrol. TJ had years serving as the Seaside Town Manager and ended his career with the beloved, most honorable, Walton County Sheriff's Office.
TJ was the perfect example of true strength and courage. He had the most giving heart; there was nothing that he wouldn’t do for you. Friends and family would describe him as loving, caring, and most of all selfless. Before his passing he was asked what he considers his greatest accomplishment in life? He answered, “Marrying my best friend, Lisa Rae Brooks, and my children Matthew, Hanna, Holly, and Luke.”
TJ was preceded in death by his father, Richard Edward Brooks, mother, Gail Campbell Brooks, grandparents, Milburn and Frances Braswell Brooks, grandparents, Hollie Hubert and Lillian Dees Campbell, and grandparents, Sidney and Edna Harwood Drake.
TJ is survived by his loving wife, Lisa, and children, Matthew (Hailey and Eloura), Hanna (Chandler) Emmick, Holly, and Luke Brooks. He is also survived by his loving and devoted stepmother, Edith Drake Brooks, sister, Pam (Bobby) Hill, sister, Jenni (John) Simonson, and nieces/nephews, Emma and Grady Hill, and Aymee, Malachi, and Eli Simonson.
He is also survived by his parents-in-law Steve and Karen Peterson, brother-in-law, Kyle (Pam) Peterson, brother-in-law, Jon (Stacey) Peterson, brother-in-law, Brian (Kristen) Peterson, and sister-in-law, Laura (Eric) McMillen, and nieces/nephews, Savannah and Sydney Peterson, Kolby and Davyn Peterson, and Lydia McMillen. Additionally, he is survived by his aunt, Hilda Campbell Worley, aunt, Melinda Drake, cousins, Alan (Sherry) Worley, Beth (Steven) Allison, Dalton Hirshorn, Todd (Elizabeth) Drake, and numerous other loving cousins.
With all the love, support, guidance, and encouragement from all his people, TJ succeeded in this wonderful life. He has served his purpose here on Earth and our Lord and Savior has called him home to his eternal life in heaven.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 5, 2023 at Point Washington United Methodist Church. Doors open at 9:00 am for fellowship, and the service will begin at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancerfreeze.org- Cancer Freeze, PO Box 92, Florala, AL 36442.
