Sarah Ellen (Creamer) Burgess

Sarah Ellen Burgess passed away peacefully in her sleep on the night of January 24, 2024.  Born on February 18, 1931, to parents Joseph and Maggie Creamer, she was very near to celebrating her 93rd birthday.

Sarah was an extraordinary mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She took care of all others before taking care of herself.  She loved spending time with family, and her family members knew she was always just a phone call away.  She never missed an opportunity to play cards with family or go dancing in Samson.  One of her favorite sayings, “her get up and go has got up and went,” will long bring a smile to the face of all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard C. Burgess, her parents, Joseph Clarence and Maggie Crews Creamer, brothers John “Buford” Ward, Joseph “Jake” Creamer, and Tommy Creamer, and sister Eva Padgett.

She is survived by sons Robert Burgess, Ralph Burgess, Gary (Vicki) Burgess, Greg (Sherri) Burgess, and Jeff Burgess, and a daughter Myra (Dean) Shaw.  She is also survived by a brother, Aaron “Leroy” (Barbara) Creamer, grandchildren: Erica and Josh Smith, Andrew Burgess, Anthony and Brianna Burgess, Adam Shaw, Tyler Burgess, Nancy Richardson, and great-grandchildren Riley Nowling, Emily Burgess, and Otto Burgess, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation 10AM and funeral service 11AM - Saturday January 27, 2024, at McDonald Family Funeral Home.

Graveside service will be Monday, January 29, 2024, at 1:00pm at Leonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
