RUSSELL ROLLINS FERRIS, SR.

Mr. Russ Ferris, age 78 of DeFuniak Springs passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022 in Chautauqua Health and Rehabilitation  Center.   He was born September 8, 1943 in Brighton, Massachusetts the son of Leslie Britton Ferris and Grace Gertrude Rollins Ferris.   He and his wife, Dorothy Claire Fontaine  met in Albany, Georgia and three years later were married.  Russell's father and mother had moved to DeFuniak Springs and after his father's death Russ and Dorothy moved to DeFuniak to help take care of Mrs. Ferris.  Dorothy died in 2019 and Russ continued to live in DeFuniak until his death.  He was  active in the Walton County Art League, Pastel Society of North Florida, Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County, Emerald Coast Plein Air Painters and was also part of the fellowship of Saint Margaret Catholic Church.

Among survivors are his  son, Russell Rollins Ferris, II, his step son, Robert Ernest Patnaude, Jr. and his step daughter, Deborah Ann Patnaude Milwood and husband Raymond, his brother, Eugene Emory Ferris and wife Marcia of Pompano Beach, Florida  and a grandson, Cody Dalton Taylor.  His sister-in-law Joan Williams also survives.
