It is with great sadness that the family of Russell "Rusty" Steven Floyd announces his passing on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at the age of 59. He was born in DeFuniak Springs March 8, 1955 the son of Cecil Joseph Floyd and Theresa Vaneata Hutcheson Floyd. Rusty was a lifelong resident of DeFuniak Springs and was employed by Walton County for 22 years. He had a great love for the outdoors and excelled at hunting and fishing. He truly treasured his time with friends and family and enjoyed the thrill of riding his Harley. Rusty touched many lives with his kindness and humor and will be greatly missed. He is predeceased by his father-in-law Donald Paul Crim and devoted wife Donna Kay Crim Floyd.
Rusty will be lovingly remembered by his son Joseph Russell Floyd, his parents Cecil and Theresa Floyd, his brother Greg Floyd and wife Charlotte, his sisters Sherry Sandquist and husband Lyle and Holly Shipman and husband Gary, his mother-in-law Betty Nelson Crim and his sister-in-law Michelle Wilcox and husband Billy Ray and adopted daughter Rhonda Wesson. Two nieces and three nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews also survive.
The family has requested several things on Rusty’s behalf: first, that there be no flowers; memorials may be made in Rusty’s memory to one’s favorite charity; second, folks coming to the service are asked to please wear casual attire. Friends are invited to come to Jerry Evans Chapel, Thursday, May 29, 2014 beginning at 4:00 P.M.until 6:30 P.M. at which time Pastor David Amason and Rusty’s Sister-In-Law Charlotte are going to share some memories of him.
