Mrs. Ruby Manning Grantham, age 72 passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the home of her sister in Cottondale, Florida. She was born May 16, 1942 in Ponce deLeon, the daughter of Hurdis Henry and Thelma Patery Horne Manning. Ruby worked many years in security where her realm of influence touched and helped many people. She always loved nature, and the outdoors and working in her garden; she had a special love of flowers and could see the Glory of God through their beauty.
One of her greatest delights was cooking for her children and grandchildren, each having a "special favorite" among which were her collard greens, fried pork chops and corn bread. Ruby's family was paramount in her life and gave her much comfort.
Among survivors are her companion and friend, Keith Bailey. Her daughters, Nanette Finley and husband Greg and Debbie Willis. Her son, Charles Ward and wife Lanet. Her sisters, Voncile Manning Canoy and husband Joe, Gladys Moore, Ruth Collinsworth, Doris Davis and Evelyn Evans and husband Roy. Her brothers, Frank Manning and wife Debbi, Buddy Manning and wife Cindy and James Manning and wife Cleo. Three grandchildren, Curtis, Erica, Nikki and Lauren and three great grandchildren also survive.
Floral arrangements are being accepted. The family will receive friends in Jerry Evans Chapel, Saturday, May 9, 2015 from 9:30 until 10:00 A.M. with the service beginning at 10:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Brother Danny Glidewell officiating.
