ROSA PEARL McDONALD

April 20, 1952 — February 17, 2021

Mrs. Rosa Pearl McDonald, age 68 passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2021.  She was born April 20, 1952 in DeFuniak Springs, the daughter of Isaac “Ike” Haisley and Rena Bell McGuire Haisley.  Rosa Pearl attended school in Walton County and was a member of the first integrated combined graduating class of Tivoli and Walton High School in the early seventies.   She was introduced to her future husband on sort of a blind date and she and Thomas McDonald were united in marriage in 1970.  While living in Chipley, Florida she attended Chipola Junior College and received her LPN license, and eventually relocated to her hometown of DeFuniak Springs.  She worked for a time at Chautauqua Nursing Home, now known as Chautauqua Health and Rehabilitation Center.  In her retirement Rosa Pearl loved watching football and tennis but her favorite sport to watch on television was golf.  She always was willing to help anyone in need however she could; she was always able to get things done.   Rosa Pearl was one of twelve siblings and married a man who was one of sixteen siblings, so having lots of folks around was the norm.   At family gatherings everyone looked forward to Grandma Rosa’s dressing, undisputedly, the best anywhere, according to the family.  She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas McDonald, Jr.  her son Isaac McDonald, her brothers, Arnie, Lawrence, Bradie, Leodis and Theodis and her sisters, Ellawease, Louise and Annie Jean; her brothers-in-law, Johnnie Lee and Glenn and her sister-in-law Candy.

Rosa Pearl is survived by her daughter, Nicole McDonald-Riles (JD) and her son Thomas McDonald.   Her grandchildren, Thomas R. McDonald, Titus F. McDonald, Ashley N. McDonald, Xavier A. McDonald (Grace), Justice S. McDonald, Elexus M. McDonald, Kaaysi D. McDonald, Keyton M. Jackson, Kiyvar J. Riles and Korbyn J. Riles.   Her brother, Isaac “Ike” Haisley and her sisters, Mary Paul and Betty Jefferson;  her sisters-in law, Shirley, Carol, Jean (Joe), Jameela (Siddiq), Lisa (Reuben), Dorothy (Marcus) and Clara,  her brothers-in-law, Vick, Eric (Beth), Larry Wayne, Charles (Pearl), James (Jeanette) and Ellis.  Seven great grandchildren also survive.

Friends and relatives will serve as pallbearers.  A time of visitation will be Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 10 until 11 A.M. in Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Euchee Valley with the funeral beginning at 11:00 A.M. graveside.  Burial will follow in the Haisley Family plot.  Friends and family may go on line to view obituaries, offer condolences and sign the guest register at jerryevansfuneralhome.com
