Mr. Robert Augusta “Bobby” Boland, age 57 passed away at his residence Tuesday, January 17, 2017. He was born November 28, 1959 on Eglin Air Force Base, the son of Charles A. “Red” Boland and Mildred Spence Boland. He attended Walton County public schools and graduated from Walton High School with the Class of 1977. He then attended Okaloosa Walton Junior College and was employed for a time with L & H Automotive as Service Manager. He then went to work as a lineman for Chelco and most recently with Walton County Public Works until ill health forced his retirement. Those who knew Bobby knew him as a quiet man who lived a simple life. He loved fishing, camping and sports and was an avid Florida Gators fan. He would lend a helping hand to any who had need and had a deep love for his family. Bobby was a member of First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs. He is predeceased by his father.
Among survivors are his daughter, Samantha Kelly and husband Destin, his mother, Mildred Boland, his granddaughter, Leighton Kelly, his sister, Sandra Boland Neeley, his brother Charles Raymond Boland and wife Carol and the mother of his daughter, Donna Boland. His nephews Chuck Neeley and Patrick Neeley and wife Stephanie and Curt Boland; his niece Tammy Campbell and husband Ricky also survive.
Floral arrangements are being accepted. Among those asked to serve as pallbearers are Curt Boland, Tim Boland, Eddie Thomason, Chuck Paulk, Tommy Hinote, Billy Clark, Russell Permenter, Ben Spence, Dillion Lund, Tommy Boland, Raymond Carter, Gray Boland and Tripp Campbell.
A time of visitation will be Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. with the funeral beginning at 11:00 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with Reverend Anthony Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Southwide Baptist Church Cemetery.
