Mr. Ricky Davis, age 56 of Laurel Hill passed away at the family residence Friday, January 15, 2016. He was born May 3, 1959 in Florala, Alabama the son of Obie Lee Davis and Mavis Myrl Harper Davis. A lifelong resident of Laurel Hill, Ricky attended Laurel Hill schools. He always had a job, working for Franklin Ferguson in Florala for some 11 years, he then was employed by Elite Trailer and C J’s Mobile Homes and more recently by GLMCO Memorial Company until ill health prevailed. Most will remember Ricky as a hard worker, no matter where he was employed, however in his early years, when turkey season came around, he would use his vacation days, and/or sick leave to go hunting and if he had no days accumulated…well, he went hunting anyway. The minute turkey season was over, he was back on the job raring to go back to work. In his leisure, he loved wrestling, rock music from the 70’s and gospel music. He loved his wife and his son and his extended family and among his favorites of “loved ones” were his dogs Cisco, Jessie Lee, Maxwell Joseph Strauss “known as Max” and his cat named, appropriately, Cat.
Among other survivors are his wife, Diann Nowling Davis, his sons Josh Davis and Lisa Merritt and James Strouse. His brother Dennis Davis and wife Tonya also survive.
Family and friends are going to gather at the Davis Family Plot in Almarante Cemetery, County Road 602 and Highway 85 in Laurel Hill, Florida 32567, Monday, January 18, 2016 at 9:00 A.M. to view Ricky and then at 10:00 A.M., those that will are invited to share favorite stories, tales and remembrances and celebrate the life of their husband, father, brother and friend and then watch as he his laid to rest from his earthly labors.
