Reginald Scott Dees, 59, was a beloved brother, son, and uncle of his family. He passed away unexpectedly on February 4, 2025. Born in Ft Walton Beach on December 29, 1965, he moved with his family to DeFuniak Springs, FL in 1969 at the age of four. Reggie attended Walton Senior High School. His parents are Joseph Theo Dees and the late Glenda Faye Dees. His brother is Randall Dees and his wife Carolyn Dees of Mayo, FL. His sister is Beth Dees and her husband Gary Spangler of Tallahassee, FL.
He loved his nephews James and his wife Jamie, Jacob and his wife Julia, and Stephen and his wife Ellen.
He also loved his grandnephews: John, Luke, Hank, and Henry, and his grandniece Eliza.
Reg’s career and passion was working in fine restaurants. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Administration from Florida State University and followed their sports program ever since graduating. He was also a big Auburn University fan and pulled for the War Eagles football and basketball games. He studied his career at one point in Leysin, Switzerland. He enjoyed the privilege of serving patrons creative dishes, was outgoing, and provided first rate service in the positions he held, many of which were in South Walton such as Sandcastles, Dave Seering’s Piano Café, and Flemmings. His career took him to other locations such as Asheville, NC, Orlando, and Port Charlotte. He had a loyal following of customers who would ask for him to serve them.
Reggie was also an animal lover and bonded fiercely with his furry dog friends over the years. He thoroughly enjoyed music and some of his favorite groups were The Cure, R.E.M., and Simple Minds.
Reg was a member of the First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs.
Reg was a truly caring person with a heart of gold. We will miss him dearly.
