Mr. Rayfield Patrick Penzo, age 64 went home to his Lord and Savior May 25, 2013 in Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. Beloved son of Pansy and Ray Penzo, Ray was born in Miami, Florida. He joined the Navy at the age of 17. During the Viet Nam conflict he served on the USS Forrestal and was aboard when 134 lives were lost as it burned off the coast of Vietnam in the Gulf of Tonkin. It was in the Navy that he actually did see the world and also learned his auto body trade. He was an artist and painter in his early years. He composed music and enjoyed playing his guitar and banjo. His love of animals led him to have llamas, sheep, horses, etc. His dog Murphy (the last of his many dogs and cats), was his constant companion. Ray is preceded in death by his only child, Alicia Penzo.
Among survivors his loving brother Jerald (Louise) Penzo, Dean (Patty) Penzo and Sherie (Ted) Nunez. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Judy Lightly, Don Earley, Larry Erwine, Dr. Michael Given and the staff of Fort Walton Beach Medical Center who were of great comfort as well as indispensable to Ray during his six month battle with lung cancer. 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in the Penzo Family Plot in Magnolia Cemetery with Dean Penzo officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors Where Ray will be laid to rest beside his daughter.
