Paula Jean Wood, longtime resident of Ponce de Leon, passed away at her home on Sunday, September 18, 2022. She was born April 4, 1960, in Taipei, Taiwan, to parents, John Louis and Pauline Frances Hamilton. She treasured time with family and particularly enjoyed every second of the time she got to spend with her grandchildren. Fishing, baking, cooking, reading and watching football, especially her favorite team, FSU, were also ways she loved to spend her time. She will be long remembered for her chicken and dressing recipe, and it is yet to be outdone. She served this area with her work at both the ARC and the Walton Correctional Center, and her friendly smile served customers at Lowes as well. Paula will be remembered at her church for her eagerness to attend, even through illness, and her fervent love for her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Paula is survived by her beloved husband, Nolan Dee Wood, brothers, Charles "Hilton" Padgett (Ola) and Joe Hamilton, and sisters, Vivian Bannister (Joe) and Janet Wood. She is also survived by her children, Mark Hamilton (Diana), Tanya Brown, stepchildren, Nolan "Bo" Dee Wood, Jr, April Watkins (Kyle) and numerous nieces and nephews. Her joys (her grandchildren): Gage, Kinslee, Logan, Caleb, Laken, Beretta and Trigger and her step-grandchildren: Kiana, Patience, Skyler, Paisley, Isabella and Ariel also survive her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John Louis Hamilton and Pauline Frances McCormick, and brothers, John Carlisle Hamilton and Danny Frank Hamilton.
