Mrs. Nellie Pryor, age 93, widow of the late Terrell Frank Pryor passed away at the family residence Wednesday, June 22, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born October 13, 1928 in DeFuniak Springs, the daughter of William Manuel and Georgie Irene Harper Collinsworth. She attended school in Walton County graduating from Walton High School in the mid 40’s. Nellie was the typical “farmer’s wife”, cooking, cleaning, washing and ironing, maintaining the home and often times helping out on the farm. That is how things got done back in that era, if it needed doing, whoever was there did it. She made a happy Christian home for her husband and son and also later for the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Famous for her made from scratch chicken and dumplings, a trait luckily she passed to her granddaughter-in-law Casey and also famous for her Ritz Cracker Cookies which have been imitated by many family members but never duplicated…probably lost for ever. Nellie was the household champion of Wheel of Fortune and followed with almost mathematical exactness all of the characters, their comings and goings over the decades, of As The World Turns and knew their family histories and misgivings, misdeeds and misfortunes over the past twenty or thirty years. Nellie was a member of Darlington Baptist Church.
Among survivors are her son Ted and wife Jean; her grandchildren, Brandi (Marc) and Timothy (Casey); her great grandchildren, Kaydence, Coleman, Piper, Octovia, Riley and Noah. Her brother Bobby Collinsworth (Hazel) and her sister Recie Cox also survive.
Among those asked to serve as pallbearers are John Frank Ward, Jesse Loya, Wayne Smith, Jonathan Rockett, Ronnie Ard, Philip Currid and John Yates. A time of visitation will be Friday, June 24, 2022 from 3 until 4 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with the funeral beginning at 4P.M. in the chapel with Brothers Greg Alford, Donel Davidson and Barry Joiner officiating. Burial will follow in Yorkie Cemetery. Friends and family may go on line to view obituaries, offer condolences and sign the guest register at jerryevansfuneralhome.com
