NANNETTE SUTTON TAPPAN

November 2, 1932 — January 9, 2021

Mrs. Nannette Bessie Sutton Tappan, age 88 of DeFuniak Springs passed away at her home about Noon time Saturday, January 9, 2021.  She was born, November 2, 1932 in Bonifay,  one of nine children born to Ezra Allen Sutton and Anna Lou Farrior Sutton.     Most will remember Mrs. Tappan in her association with the school system in DeFuniak Springs, first as an aide at Mary Love Kindergarten and later in thirty some years at Maude Saunders Elementary.  In addition, her love of children was evident as she taught young age children in Sunday School at First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs.  As fate would have it, after her retirement from the school system, her home happened to be located within a stone's throw of the Middle School and when the new school was constructed the proximity of the front porch of her home was mere yards from the newly constructed classrooms.  Whereas this would have been a harrowing circumstance for many home owners, Mrs. Tappan could not have been more delighted and loved the noise and playful chatter of children she loved so deeply.  Never, biologically a mother, she was Mom to countless children over several decades.    Nannette is predeceased by seven of her brothers and sisters, Bobby, Eunice, Leslie, Frank, Bruce, Josh and Eloise.

She is survived by her last living sibling, Yvonne Sinclair and several nieces and nephews.

It was Nannette's wish to be cremated with no formal services.  Friends and family may go on line to view obituaries, offer condolences and sign the guest register at jerryevansfuneralhome.com
