Mrs. Monette Moseley Ward, age 89 of Darlington went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours Sunday, October 16, 2016. She was born March 19, 1927 in Gaskin, the oldest of four children born to Lloyd Moseley and Alliemae Colllinsworth Moseley. She attended Gaskin School until tenth grade finishing her education in DeFuniak Springs. After graduating high school she moved to North Carolina working with the American Tobacco Company for several years. On October 27, 1946, after a short courtship, she and Loyce L. Ward of Darlington were married in North Carolina. Over their seventy years together she lived in many states as she traveled with her husband in his construction career. Monette enjoyed traveling and visited several countries outside of the United States. She was an avid bowler, enjoying the sport into her eighties. She proudly displayed the many trophies she had won in competitions over the years. She also enjoyed fishing and playing rummy and dominos with friends and family. As long as her health permitted she faithfully attended her church, Outreach for Christ. She looked forward to worshiping with her church family and friends. She is preceeded in death by her parents, her brothers, Curtis and Doyle Moseley, her brothers-in-law Daniel and Adolph Ward and Harold Burkett and her sisters-in-law Bobbie Jean Burkett and Rosie Moseley.
Among survivors are her husband of seventy years, Loyce Ward and brother-in-law, David Ward and her sisters-in-law, Margaret and Virginia Moseley, Mary, Mildred and Mary Lee Ward. Numerous nieces and nephews and friends she has made over her 89 years also survive.
A time of visitation will be Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 10 until 11 A.M. in Darlington Baptist Church with the funeral beginning at 11:00 A.M. in the church with Reverend Barry Joiner and Pastor Curtis Manning officiating. Burial will follow in the Ward family plot in Darlington Cemetery.
