Biography Mrs. Melvinia Stuckey Nelson age 91 of DeFuniak Springs passed away at the home of her son in Panama City, Florida Thursday July 2, 2009. She was born September 26, 1917 in Walton County the daughter of Issiah Prophet Stuckey and Ella Mae Bembo Stuckey.Mrs. Nelson was a homemaker whose greatest joy in life was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of St. John AME Church. She is predeceased by her husband Davis Nelson who passed in February 2007.
Among surviviors are her daughter Ethel Tyner and husband James of Ponce deLeon. Her sons Divard Nelson and wife Ruby of DeFuniak Springs. Joe Nelson and wife Diane of Wakima, Washington. Samuel Nelson and wife Rose of Ponce deLeon and Roger Nelson and wife Edye of Panama City. Twenty two grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren also survive.
Those asked to serve as pallbearers are Chris Works, Chris Watkins, A.J. Tyner, Charles Nettles, Roy Lee Andrews and Pat Cobb. An hour of visitation will be Friday, July 10, 2009 from 6 until 7 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John AME Church with Reverend Latanja Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Euchee Valley Cemetery.
