MAUDREE KAY KELLEY BROWN

May 24, 1934 — August 28, 2021

Maudree Kelley Brown, age 87 of DeFuniak Springs passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021 in Chautauqua Health and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.  She was born May 24, 1934 in Florala, Alabama, one of ten children of Marion Butler Kelley and Ethyl Beatrice Williams Kelley.  Maudree attended Walton County Schools and was the first of her siblings to graduate from high school in the early 1950’s.  Most will remember Maudree in her employment with the Bus Station Café, a Walton County Landmark.  When the Bus Station closed Maudree worked in food service in other restaurants, the last being McLain’s Family Restaurant.  It was at McLains where she met her husband Ed Brown.  She worked in food service until ill health forced her retirement.  Maudree loved flowers and working in her yard growing trees and veggies and flowers and blueberries.  When not able to be outdoors she was an avid fan of Gunsmoke and The Andy Griffith Show.  Maudree was a loyal and faithful member of Indian Creek Baptist Church and has been part of that fellowship since its’ beginning in a tent in a cornfield until its’ present day location.  Because of health reasons she was unable to attended lately, but her faith in Jesus Christ and her love of The Lord was a major part of her life, all of her life.   She is predeceased by Ed Brown and her nine siblings.

Among survivors are her children, Ron Kelley and Eti, James Nance and Jeanette, David Nance  and Debra Kay Lockhart and Randall.   Seven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren also survive.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 4:00 P.M. in Indian Creek Baptist Church, 3964 County Highway 280A, DeFuniak Springs, Florida with Reverend Scott Keppel officiating.  There will be a private family interment.
