Mary Ollie “MO” Eichorn age 88, passed away unexpectedly at her residence Sunday, January 29, 2023. She was born October 19, 1934, in DeFuniak Springs, the daughter of Ollie Marvin and Mary Vivian Hilliard Thompson. She attended Walton County Schools and graduated with Walton’s Class of 1952. For a time, she was employed at Eglin Air Force Base where she met her future husband, Herbert Fred Eichorn.
Mo was the last of a generation of her family that was born and raised during the Great Depression and World War II. She dearly loved all of her family and friends and cherished all of the time that she got to spend with them, whether at work, home, or play. She was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren in the example that she set as a hard worker – earnestly working a full-time job until her passing. She was even more of an inspiration to everyone in how much fun she was to be around. She could always make people laugh as she shared her love for life. She was a friend to all the people she worked with and loved at the Walton County Courthouse. After raising her two boys, she also raised her grandson Rusty as her son, and she loved him deeply until his passing in April of 2022. She will be greatly missed by everyone that was a part of her life.
She is predeceased by her mother and father, her husband, her brothers Russell and Hilliard Thompson, her sister Bessie Stone, and her grandson Rusty.
Among survivors are her sons, Marvin Eichorn (Judy) and Russ Eichorn (Cathy Price), her grandchildren, Christopher Matlock (Niki), Kelley Honeycutt (Jason), and Jacob Eichorn, and her great grandchildren, Colin Matlock, Blake Matlock, Lincoln Matlock, Nathan Honeycutt, and Madison Eichorn. Additional survivors are her nephews Wayne Thompson (Edie), Dick Thompson (Celia), Dent Thompson (Pepper), Mark Thompson and niece Terry Porter. Also surviving is longtime friend and confidant Martha Ingle, and MO’s constant companion, ViVi.
