Mary Catharine Douglass Anderson, age 96, passed away peacefully on November 4, 202. She was born July 28, 1924 at the families’ residence on Florence Street. After graduating Walton High School in 1942 Mrs. Anderson worked by her father’s side at Piggly Wiggly until his death. She remained there until 1980 and then went to work for a local physician, Dr. Leyva. Upon retirement she could be seen working at the family farm alongside her husband. Mary Catharine was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of DeFuniak Springs. She served her church as an Elder, Sunday School teacher and was active in the Women of the Church. She earned the Lifetime Achievement Award for her years of dedicated service to the Women of the Church. She is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Anderson, her parents, Curry and Ora Douglass and siblings Ewart and Edgar Douglass.
Among survivors are her daughters, Elaine Courtney (Johnie) and Shirley Anderson (Andy Ingoglia). Her grandchildren, Martin Courtney, Michelle Logsdon (Brad), Joy Utterback and Trae Utterback. Six great grandchildren also survive.
Floral arrangements are being accepted or memorials may be made in Mary Catharine Andersons’ memory to First Presbyterian Church of DeFuniak Springs or Emerald Coast Hospice. A time of visitation will be held Wednesday, November 25, 2020 from 10:00 until 10:30 A,M, with the service beginning at 10:30 A.M. in First Presbyterian Church, 1063 Circle Drive, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435 with Reverend Chuck Taber, Reverend Mark Broadhead and Joanne Kublik officiating.
