Mrs. Mary Frances Vecelas Williams, age 83 formerly of DeFuniak Springs passed
away in Tucson, Arizona. She was born February 5, 1932 in Hartshorne, Oklahoma the
daughter of William Joe Vecelas and Effie Maye Wilhelm Vecelas. Frances and her
late husband, Evert Jasper Williams had made their home in DeFuniak Springs after
his retirement from The Chicago Tribune. After his death in 2003 she continued to live
in DeFuniak Springs until this past July when she moved to Tucson to be close to her
son and his family. When health permitted she was active in the fellowship of First
Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs. Frances had a genuine love for the area, for the
people, a love for her family and children and grandchildren and that love of life shown
in her smile whenever one met her.
Among survivors are her children, Edward Evert Williams and wife Cindy; Pamela Ooms
and husband William; Commander Steven Williams and wife Debbie and David Williams.
Nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive.
Memorials may be made in Frances Williams memory to Hospice, Samaritans Purse, Operation Christmas Child. Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. in First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs with Dr. Bobby Tucker officiating.
