Mrs. Mary Virginia “Ginger” Stanley, age 76, widow of the late Henry Avery Stanley, passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 at the family residence. She was born August 6, 1940 the daughter of Milton Sidney Doster and Zettie Edith Currington Doster. Most will remember Mrs. Stanley in her employment with Tom Thumb Food Stores and more recently with the HandyPak Convenience Store in the Woodlawn Community where she worked until ill health prevailed. She loved the outdoors, but when confined to the house she was an avid fan of Golden Girls on television. She enjoyed Gospel Music, especially the Gather’s but Mary’s greatest joy was her children and family. She is predeceased by her husband and her son, Avery Olen Stanley.
Among survivors are her children, Edith Bexley and husband Zek of Pratville, Alabama, , Judy Parker of Orange Beach, Alabama, , Lamar Stanley, Angie Stanley and Kathy Stanley all of DeFuniak Springs and Leonard Stanley of Freeport. Her sisters, Carol Hall of Marietta, Georgia, Gay Lyall and husband Mike of DeFuniak Springs and Nita Winters of Lowndesboro, Alabama; her grandchildren, Chris, Josh, Shannon, Vanessa, Olen, Krystal, Timothy, Ginger, Angel, Calvin, Donald, Milton, James, Melissa, Wade, Donnie, Shenna, Kimberly and Kala. Twenty five great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 14, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with Dr. Larry Teasley officiating.
