MARILYN CHARVES DERKAZ

Mrs. Marilyn Derkaz age 88 passed away Friday, July 2, 2021 in Healthmark Regional Medical Center.   She was born December 7, 1932 in Providence, Rhode Island the daughter of Manuel Charves and Louise Mildred Cornel Charvez.  At age 16 she graduated from high school in  East Providence.  Later after marrying her husband, Alfred Cornelius Derkaz,  they built Cowesett  Shipyard and Marina in Warwick, RI   When their son Jerold went to college,   Marilyn went to college too and graduated with three majors from the University of Rhode Island.  She then received her Master’s in Counseling.    Marilyn became Executive Secretary of the Rhode Island Public Buildings Authority, a position she held for a decade until her retirement.

Among survivors are her son, Dr. Jerold Derkaz.and Kim Smith.   Her grandson, Jerold Garrett Derkaz and wife Alexina also survive.

Services will be held Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 6 until 8 PM at Quinn Funeral Home in Warwick, RI.  Marilyn will be laid to rest beside her husband in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery.    Friends and family may go on line to view obituaries, offer condolences and sign the guest register at jerryevansfuneralhome.com
