Mr. Marcus Ray Mitchem, age 76, of Ponce deLeon passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 in Healthmark Regional Medical Center. He was born September 10, 1939 in Orlando, Florida the son of Harvey Ervin Mitchem and Norma Elaine Schofield Mitchem. Mr. Mitchem was employed with the City of Fort Walton Beach, a position he held just short of forty years. After retirement from the city, he and his wife moved to her hometown of Ponce deLeon. He is predeceased by his sons, David Lydell Mitchem and Ricky Allen Mitchem and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence C. Rushing and Eva Griggs Rushing.
Among survivors are his wife, Lora Dell Rushing Mitchem, his brothers and sisters, Nellie Keykendall, Jimmy Mitchem, Jill Evans and husband Gerry, Kenneth Mitchem and wife Mary, Kaye Jones and husband Cecil, Dana Earl Mitchem, Barbara Mitchem, and Sylvia Clemmons and husband Jimmy. His grandchildren, Cole Mitchem and wife Robin, Tyler Mitchem and wife Kayla, Davlin Mitchem and John, Blaze Mitchem, Vanessa Garcia, and Sierra Smithwick. Twelve great grandchildren also survive.
Floral arrangements are being accepted. A time of visitation will be Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 10 until 11 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with the funeral beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Rodney Infinger officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchem family plot in Euchee Valley Cemetery.
