Lomax Mabron

Mr. Lomax Mabron, age 89, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the family residence, surrounded by his family. He was born June 15, 1926 in DeFuniak Springs, the son of Lamon and Liller Mabron. After attending public school, Lomax served a tour of duty with the U.S. Army during World War II. Afterwards, he moved to Chicago and worked over 30 years for the United States Federal Civil Service. While living in Chicago, Mr. Mabron majored in voice at the Chicago Musical College of Roosevelt University. He was admired and recognized as a talented vocalist in Chicago, where he met his wife, Setsuko. His passion for music stayed with him all of his life—a love he passed on to his children. Once he retired in 1983, he and his family moved “back home” to DeFuniak Springs. His son, Alexander L. Mabron, predeceases him.

Mr. Mabron is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Setsuko E. Mabron. His children, Phyllis M. Branch, Lynn S. Mabron, Timothy Mabron, Melanie J. Sholes and husband, Reggie, and Lamon L. Mabron, II and wife, Mary Jo. Eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends also survive him.

Floral arrangements are being accepted. A time of visitation will be Monday, September 28, 2015 from 10 until 11 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with the funeral beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Tyrone Broadus and Chaplain Ralph Molyneux officiating. A eulogy will be given by his daughter, Melanie Sholes. Interment will follow in the Mabron Family Plot in Magnolia Cemetery with Military Honors.
