LESLIE EUGENE BLEVINS

February 15, 1948 — February 11, 2021

Mr. Leslie Blevins, age 72 passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 just four days before his 73rd birthday.  He was born February 15, 1948 in Fort Payne, Alabama the son of John Celestial Blevins and Sarah Frances Lyons Blevins.    After finishing school and after a tour of duty with the United States Army in Viet Nam, Leslie began employment with Vulcraft-Nucor Steel Mills, never missing a day of work in forty years.  In addition, while employed he attended Northeast Alabama Community College receiving an AA Degree.  After retirement, Leslie and his wife Virginia decided to move to Walton County to be near their son who was in the real estate business.  Fearing the traffic congestion of the Southend, their son was able to find them the perfect home in DeFuniak where Leslie and Virginia and Virginia’s sister  Donna have lived for the past two years.  Unfortunately ill health set in and with the arrival of  Corona Virus  and "stay at home" recommendations, Leslie has been homebound for the most part to avoid the dreaded disease.  Leslie enjoyed Westerns and John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart were two of his favorites.

Among survivors are his wife, Virginia Ann Allen Blevins; his son, Michael Blevins, his sisters, Carolyn Frances Naylor and Shannon Elaine Blevins; his brother, Little John, Jr. Celestial and wife Dorothy and his sister-in-law Donna Arthur.  Also surviving is his trusted friend and companion, Sparky, his miniature schnauzer.

Memorialzation  will be by cremation.    Friends and family may go on line to view obituaries, offer condolences and sign the guest register at jerryevansfuneralhome.com
