LEELAN GORDON WILKINSON, JR.

Mr. Leelan Gordon “Buddy” Wilkinson, Jr. age 91, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the family residence.  He was born March 19, 1929 in DeFuniak Springs, the son of Leelan Gordon and Helen Wilkinson.  Buddy graduated from Walton High School and then attended The University of The South in Sewanee, Tennessee on a football scholarship for one year before being drafted into service.  He served two years with the United States Army in Germany after which he returned to DeFuniak Springs.  He then attended the University of Florida for two years before taking a position with FDOT.  Buddy entered the engineering training program with FDOT and enjoyed a 42 year career as a civil engineer.  He enjoyed rose gardening earlier in life.  After retirement, he and Cecil spent time traveling in their RV and he especially loved enjoying the beaches of South Walton.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Cecil Wilkinson; daughters Carol Rogers (Joey), Lee Marshall (Bruce) and Susan Wilkinson.  Granddaughters, Elizabeth and Kate Rogers as well as numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Because of COVID-19 concerns there will be a private service with immediate family.
