Mr. Lee Autry Poindexter, age 75 of DeFuniak Springs passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013 in Crestview Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born June 21, 1937 in Los Angeles, California the son of William Talmadge Poindexter and Frances Nora Epps Poindexter. Lee joined the United States Air Force where he served his country for some twenty three years, retiring from Eglin Air Force Base. He then was employed through civil service at Pensacola Naval Air Station where he worked twenty years, then retiring the second time. In his retirement years he loved working in his yards, landscape, tinkering with cars and boats and was an avid fisherman, but his greatest love was for his family.
Lee is predeceased by his wife Sallyann who passed away in March of 2012.
Among survivors are his sons, Bill Poindexter and wife Denice, Ed Poindexter and wife Sue, John Ostrom and wife Petra and Gary Ostrom. His daughter, LeAnn Gutzke and ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren also survive.
Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made in Lee Poindexter’s memory to The American Cancer Society. Graveside services with full military honors will be held Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in Cluster Springs Cemetery with Brother Craig Crimpa of Niceville Assembly of God Church officiating.
