Katrina Rochelle Zachem Jeffcoat, age 51 passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at the home of her parents in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. She was born May 4, 1968 in Victorville, California the daughter of John and Ellavenia Cowart Zachem. In 1976, when her father was transferred to Eglin AFB she moved with her parents and sisters to Niceville and graduated with Niceville High School’s Class of 1986. She then, like her father, joined the Air Force where she was an electrician on C5 aircraft and served her country in that capacity during the Gulf War. After completing ten years with the military she then returned to the area and attended FSU graduating with a dietitian’s degree. She was employed with the State of Florida for about three years but then was employed for a number of years with SODEXO, an industry food service supplier. Most recently she was manager over Vidant Medical Center, a healthcare conglomerate of varied health care services including heart, cancer, children and women’s specialties. Katrina began this new position June 1st of last year and seventeen days later was diagnosed with ovarian cancer which would claim her life less than eight months later.
Among survivors are her children, Chelsea Adams, Addie Grace Jeffcoat and Elizabeth Faith Jeffcoat. Her parents, John and Ellavenia Zachem, her sisters, Kelly Waters and husband Lee, Karen Anthony and husband Michael and Kathleen Davis. Her Aunt, Patricia Norris and husband Ronald. Katrina’s granddaughters, Tenley Adams, Ava Jackson, Leighton Jackson and Callie Mae Jackson and the father of her children, Stephen Jeffcoat also survive.
