Kathy Courtney

Kathleen Louise Courtney passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family, on January 13, 2025. Kathy was born on November 4, 1954, and was a lifelong resident of Waldorf, Maryland. During her later years she moved to Freeport, Florida to live with her daughter Holly and her family. Before moving to Florida, Kathy spent many years as a quality control book binder with Craftsman Press in Cheverly, Maryland.

Incredibly loving, Kathy’s door was always open, and friends and family knew they were always welcome. She found great joy in time spent with family – hosting family gatherings, traveling to Hawaii, and cruising the Caribbean were some of her favorite times with her treasured family. Kathy was exceedingly proud of her grandchildren and never wanted to miss out on a chance to be with them. 

Kathy is survived by her daughters Heather Falcomeni (Jesse) and Holly McDermott (Troy), brother Joseph Schaeffer, sisters Joyce Kerfoot, MaryAnn Mayes, and Linda Kerfoot, and her 3 much-loved grandchildren Blake Falcomeni, Emily Falcomeni, and Amberly McDermott.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Courtney, son “Little” Danny, parents William Thomas Kerfoot and Mary Edith Haney Kerfoot, and brothers Michael Kerfoot, Frederick Kerfoot, and William Thomas Kerfoot, Jr.

Kathy will always be remembered for her loving nature and her firecracker personality. She was an amazing mom, Nana, sister, and friend; a true blessing to all who got to know her.
