Mrs. June Cassidy Simmons, age 67 of Ponce de Leon passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of Monday, April 3, 2017 at the family residence. She was born July 5, 1949 in DeFuniak Springs, the daughter of Dan and Lissie Cassidy. All who knew June knew of her never ending love for her husband John Henry Simmons who passed away in October 2007. June loved sewing, fishing and really really loved to go shopping. She also loved spoiling her grandkids. According to the family she had a “T” shirt fetish and has accumulated quite a collection. Her life was centered on her family and friends and she was a member of Westville First Assembly of God. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband and her sisters Bobbie Jean Owens and Kathy Lee.
Among survivors are her children, William Simmons and wife Rena, Kimberly Tate and husband Donald. Deanna Allen and husband Steve and Melissa Goodwin and husband Joey. Her grandchildren,Brittney Simmons, Kaycee Vaughan and Cody, Hailee Simmons, Kyndall Tate, Jared Allen and Krista, Ariale Allen, Austin Goodwin and Cassidy Goodwin. Her great grandchildren, Melanie, Landon, Kyson and two “on the way” one of which is Lukas Wayne Vaughan. Her brothers, Robert Cassidy and Jerry Cassidy and wife Dodie. Her best friend June Burgess and a special friend Buddy Biddle. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive whom she adored.
A time of visitation will be Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 6 until 8 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in Old Mt. Zion Missionary Church, 1918 Old Mt. Zion Road, Ponce de Leon, Florida 32455 with Pastor Kenny Montgomery and Pastor Larry Sweat officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery in the Simmons Family Plot.
