Juanita Sunday Laird

Mattie Juanita (Teen) Laird, age 85 entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at her home in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Teen was born March 29, 1928 in Glendale, the daughter of Charlie and Irene Redmon Sunday, She married Wilburn Tew Laird and lived in DeFuniak Springs all fifty one years of their married life. She was an active, charter member of Calvary Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a very kind and gentle soul, and had a loving and generous heart and was always giving and caring for her family and others. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, and siblings: Major Sunday, Rufus Sunday, Lloyd (Ted) Sunday, Ray Sunday, Louis “Big Boy” Sunday, Thad Sunday, Ruby Sunday, Ella Lou Gillis, Hazel Owens and Ethel Mae Prescott.

Teen leaves her loving memories to be cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wants to thank the church family at Calvary Baptist Church for providing support, prayers, phone calls and the excellent food. The generous love and support was greatly appreciated. The family said words are difficult to express the appreciation they have for Emerald Coast Hospice, that the staff was always there giving their loving, gracious and compassionate care during this challenging time.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in Juanita Laird’s memory to Calvary Baptist Church, 75 Church Street, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433 or to Emerald Coast Hospice, 131 East Redstone Avenue, Suite 100, Crestview, Florida 32539. A time of visitation will be held Friday, August 30, 2013 from 6 until 8 P.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with Pastor Tim Barrow officiating. Burial will follow in the Laird Family Plot in Magnolia Cemetery.
