Mr. John Zachem, Jr., age 78 passed away at the family residence in DeFuniak Springs , Tuesday, March 24, 2020 surrounded by family members. He was born December 24, 1941 in Atlanta, Georgia the son of John George Zachem and Elzie White Zachem. John served his country in the United States Air Force for some 23 years of service, three years as flight chief for U.S. Thunderbirds, with tours in Okinawa, Southeast Asia, Turkey, England, Korea and many years of temporary duty all over the world. He had duty stations at Eglin AFB two different times, Seymour Johnson AFB, NC, George AFB, California and Nellis AFB, Nevada. After retirement from his military career he then served twenty years in Civil Service. John was a Master Mason and a Scottish Rite Shriner. He is predeceased by his daughter, Katrina Jeffcoat who passed away 49 days before her dad.
Among survivors are his wife Ellavenia Zachem and his daughters, Kelly Waters and husband Lee, , Karen Anthony and husband Michael and Kathleen Davis. Seven granddaughters, Amber Barnhill, Heather Davis, Chelsea Adams, Bailey Davis, Savannah Mason, Addie Grace Jeffcoat and Elizabeth Jeffcoat. Seven great grand daughters also survive. One would have to note that John's life was lived around women, all his children and grandchildren and great grandchildren are girls.
In accordance with John's wishes, he will be cremated.
