John William "J.W." Gainey

Mr. John William (J.W.) Gainey, a lifelong resident of Walton County passed away at the family residence, surrounded by his family, Friday morning just two days after his 87th birthday. He was born October 21, 1928 in DeFuniak Springs the son of John Angus Gainey and Sarah Martha Infinger Gainey. J.W. spent most of his life in the timber and logging business, owing his own company which is still in operation today. He obviously loved to hunt and fish, but spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was his favorite of all things. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. He is predeceased by his brothers Corbin and Kenneth and his sisters Beatrice and Bertis. He is also predeceased by his brothers-in-law Coy and Tellis and his sister-in-law Irene.

Among survivors are his wife, Inez Rushing Gainey. His sons, Ronnie and wife Gloria, Rocky, Rusty and wife Charlotte and Rex. His grandchildren, Clint, Henry and wife Heather, Misty and husband Bert, Michael, Heather, Corbin, Tiffany and husband Clay, Jessica, Hunter. His great grandchildren, Fisher, Eli, Chasity, Avery, Jace, Micah, Moriah and Matthew. His sisters-in-law, Rachel and husband Henry, Virginia, Charlene and his brother-in-law Toby and wife Sue.

Those asked to serve as pallbearers are his grandchildren, Hunter, Clint, Michael, Heather, Corbin and Henry. Floral arrangements are being accepted. A time of visitation will be from 2 until 3 P.M. Sunday, October 25, 2015 in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, 1015 Pleasant Ridge Road, DeFuniak Springs, Florida with the funeral beginning at 3:00 P.M. with Reverend Malon LeCroix officiating. Burial will follow in the Gainey Family Plot in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
