Jennie Lucille Bullard Cawthon

Jennie Lucille Bullard Cawthon, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2011. She was born in Bruce, Florida, on August 20, 1922, the daughter of James Wellington Bullard and Annie Belle Geddie Bullard. She graduated from Walton High School and received her college degree from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama. She married Roy Davis Cawthon on May 13, 1944, and resided in DeFuniak Springs, where she taught school. In 1964, the Cawthon family moved to Gainesville, Florida, where Mrs. Cawthon worked for Independent Life Insurance Company. After she retired, she and Roy enjoyed fishing and traveling in their motor home. After Roy’s death, Lucille moved back to DeFuniak where she enjoyed many happy years among her dear friends and relatives. She spent her last years as a resident of Stanley House in DeFuniak Springs. Mrs. Cawthon was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roy Davis Cawthon, her son Roy Davis Cawthon, Jr., and her siblings, James Wellington Bullard, Jr., Ann Bullard Muir, and Marjorie Bullard McGee.

She is survived by her son, George E. Cawthon (Jeannine), her daughter, Jennie Cawthon Beazlie (Frank), grandchildren, Leslie Beazlie McGehee (Jason), Kacey Beazlie Edmondson (Chad), Laurel Murphey Cawthon, Evan Scott Cawthon, Ross Murphey Cawthon, and great-granddaughter, Annah Corinne McGehee.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in Magnolia Cemetery with Reverend Henry Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Cawthon Family Plot in Magnolia Cemetery.
