Janet Gallagher Wesley, age 84 passed away early Thursday morning in Chautauqua Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born September 8, 1928 in DeFuniak Springs, the daughter of Laura McConnell Gallagher. After completion of her formal education Janet taught in Pensacola for a few years but eventually returned to Walton County where she was employed with the Walton County Board of Education for over forty years as a teacher. Janet loved to travel and always considered traveling to other places, not only an adventure but an educational experience. One of her greatest enjoyments in life was knowing of the accomplishments and successes of her former students. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of DeFuniak Springs.
Among survivors are her cousins, Martha Bell and Murdick Bell.
Those asked to serve as pallbearers are James Willoughby, Craig Reynolds, James McCall, Wayne Bodie, Charles Caswell, Robert Sellers, Buddy Wilkinson, Greg Lathinghouse, Philip Martin and Howard Rinker.
Floral arrangements are being accepted. Visitation will be in First United Methodist Church, 88 Circle Drive, DeFuniak Springs, Florida Sunday, January 13, 2013 beginning at 1:00 P.M. with the funeral at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Rob West and Dr. Larry Teasley officiating.
