Mrs. Jane Vest Campbell age 88 of DeFuniak Springs went to be with the Lord, Friday, March 22, 2013 after a brief battle with cancer. She was born August 5, 1924 in Nashville, Tennessee the daughter of Luther and Mary Thomas Vest. She was a graduate of Brenau College in Gainesville, Georgia with a double major in French and English. She lived in DeFuniak Springs since 1945; many will remember her employment with First National Bank where she worked as a teller and later as book keeper. Jane was an avid golfer and was winner of numerous local golf tournaments; she is noted as one of the best at surf fishing, especially loving Pompano fishing. Jane and her husband Molin loved traveling all over the US and abroad, enjoying golf and many adventures along the way. Jane and Molin were known throughout the Gulf Coast for their dancing style. Jane Campbell had unconditional love for her family and friends and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. As a strong committed Christian she lived by faith and led by example. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of DeFuniak Springs for some sixty six years and is a current member of Glendale Presbyterian Church. She was part of the fellowship of Lathram Chapel United Methodist Church in Cantonment, Florida.
Among survivors are her children Janie and Bob Lindsey. Sara and George Keith, Susan Campbell and Bill and Elizabeth Campbell. Her grandchildren, Robby and Jack Lindsey, Kevin Dover, Richard and William Campbell and Carolyn Brigman. Ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
Floral arrangements are being accepted or memorials may be made in Jane Vest Campbell’s memory to Covenant Hospice, 370 West Redstone Avenue, Crestview, Florida 32536 or one’s favorite charity. A time of visitation will be Monday, March 25, 2013 from 10 until 11 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with the funeral beginning at 11 A.M. with Reverend Pamela Avery officiating. Burial will follow in the Campbell Family Plot in Magnolia Cemetery.
