James Bingham

Biography

On the morning of October 14, 2009 Mr. James W. Bingham, age 78 went to be with the Lord. He was born May 1, 1931 in Bessemer, Alabama the son of James Victor Bingham and Gloria Inez Sanford Bingham. He was raised in DeFuniak Springs and graduated from Walton High where he met the love of his life and wife of 59 years, Mary Lydia Jackson. In 1958 James and Mary Lydia moved to Washington State where they lived for 48 years. James was a general contractor; he built 7 churches, 3 apartment buildings and over 50 homes. They moved to Eastern Washington, Royal City in 1984. They had a small farm which they made a beautiful home and apple orchard. James and Mary had a very good life in Washington before moving back to DeFuniak Springs in 2006. He is predeceased by a daughter Beverley who died November 21, 2003; his sister Janice Wilson.

Among survivors are his wife, Mary Lydia Bingham. His son, James Robert Bingham and his daughter Mary Carol Joule and Kevin Hartman. His sisters, Joy Ann Beathe and husband Homer. His grandchildren, Gerald, Justin, Scott, Larry, Angela, Tiffany and Leann. His great grandchildren, Trinity and Brandon. His brother in law, Walter Jackson and his sisters-in-law Gloria Hollingsworth and husband Sonny and Martha Moseley. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Floral arrangements are being accepted. A time of visitation will be one hour prior to funeral time. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in Jerry Evans Chapel with Reverend Rob West officiating.
