Mr. Jack Hicks, age 86 passed away March 20, 2015 in Chautauqua Health and Rehabilitation Center, just sixty days after his wife’s passing. He was born November 5, 1928 in Sneeds, Florida the son of John Walter Hicks and Mittie Stevens Hicks. Jack came to DeFuniak Springs on a six months assignment to rebuild the exchanges for Southeastern Telephone Company, met and married the “love of his life” Mary Alice Bosenberg” and never left until the early morning hours of Friday. In declining health, himself, he refused to die because he would not leave Mary Alice; after her death January 20th he patiently waited with eagerness to be with her and they were reunited Friday. Jack and Mary Alice were buddys, friends, companions, and soulmates for over sixty-five years, separated in time on this earth sixty days, and now together for eternity. Jack’s accomplishments, his work ethic, his hobbies are not mentioned here; his life was all about Mary Alice, the loved they shared and their unending faith in Jesus Christ. Jack was a member of First Baptist Church.
Among survivors are his sister Rubye and husband Bob and his brother Lynwood. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
