Mrs. Inez Evans Holland, age 93 passed away April 30, 2015, at Twin Cities Hospital in Niceville, Florida, surrounded by her family. She was born October 9, 1921, in the Black Creek Community of Walton County, the daughter of James Bennett Evans, Sr. and Rhoda Jane Fannin Evans. Inez and her husband of 59 years, Jim Holland, lived in the Black Creek Community where they worked, worshiped and raised their only child, Betty. Most important to Inez was her family, and over the years, she became the matriarch of her immediate and extended family. Both family and friends remember her as a compassionate but firm friend and ally. She always enjoyed the simple things in life: gardening, fishing, and being outside. Inez has been a member of Black Creek United Methodist Church since 1935 and served as church treasurer from 1954 until 2005 shortly before she moved to live with her daughter and son-in-law in Baker. She is predeceased by her husband Jim, her brothers, J.B., Gus and Donald, and her sister, Juanita.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her immediate family: Son-in-law and daughter, Ron and Betty Patton; granddaughter, Teri Irwin, and her husband, Mike; and her great grandchildren, Courtney Fountain, Sarah Hudson, and Taylor Irwin. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Shirley Evans and Olive Holland; her brother-in-law, Leslie Caldwell; and many nieces and nephews.
