Mrs. Eunice McIntosh age 87 of DeFuniak Springs passed away Friday, June 26, 2009 in Mobile, Alabama. She was born March 6, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Clifford Wesley Parker and Hilda Emilie Skerie. After graduation from high school in Brooklyn she worked as an office clerk in downtown Manhattan. She met Don McIntosh at a church USO during World War II, married him and moved to Glendale and later to DeFuniak Springs. Eunice loved to read, crochet, play Scrabble, pinochle, dominos and cardgames. Her greatest joy and love was her children and grandchildren. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of DeFuniak Springs for over fifty years. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, her son, Don Richard McIntosh, her sister Muriel and a brother Clifford.
Among survivors are her daughters Gloria McDonald and husband Rudy. Phyllis Paine and husband Joe. Her brother Robert Parker and wife Lorraine; her sister-in-law Helen Parker. Five grandchildren, Shane, Don, Melanie, Dawn and Alexis. Four great grandchildren, Spencer, Hunter, Haley and Ansley Grace also survive.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Eunice McIntosh’s memory to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 9, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435-0009. A time of visitation will be Sunday, July 5, 2009 from 1 until 2 P.M. in First United Methodist Church. Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday July 5, 2009 in First United Methodist Church with Reverend Rob West officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in Gum Creek Cemetery.
