Mr. Harry Charles Ambrose, age 70 of Mary Esther and DeFuniak Springs passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021. He was born July 16, 1950 in Fort Dix, New Jersey the son of Charles Henry and Diana Vernete Casavant Ambrose. After completing high school in Massachusetts he entered college receiving his degree and then fulfilled his military obligation by serving his country in the United States Army with an overseas tour in Germany. Returning to Massachusetts he met and married his wife Meta, who convinced Harry that the white sand of the South was much better than the white snow of the North, so the family picked up and moved to the Defuniak Springs area. Harry easily found employment with Metric, a place he was employed until his retirement five years ago. Retirement offered Harry a chance to pursue the outdoors of the Great South; hunting, fishing and amazingly one of his favorite past times, pulling weeds. Friends, family and neighbors all report, on any given day, that hunting wasn’t in season, Harry could be found in the yard, pulling weeds and if his back was hurting it would not be unusual to find him sitting or crawling on the ground in his pursuit of the pesky vegetation. He followed the Patriots and the Celtics and countless hours of comfort with “Bubber” his fifteen year old tom cat. Harry was part of the fellowship of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Among survivors are his wife, Meta Louise Ambrose; his children, Michelle Yalamanchili and husband Suresh, Christy Cobos and husband Sergio and Chuck Ambrose. His brother Ralph Ambrose, and his grandchildren, Reuben and wife Emily, Abigail and husband Caleb, Venkata, Sajani, Vikram, Julian and Harper also survive.
Memorialzation will be by cremation. Friends and family may go on line to view obituaries, offer condolences and sign the guest register at jerryevansfuneralhome.com
